With a manual sync, you are in control of when your contacts are synced, and you will have the opportunity to override how each contact is synced before the sync is executed. I recommend performing a manual sync during your initial sync. After your initial sync, you may want to consider automatic syncing.
- From the Contacts Sync menu bar, go to "Sync," and choose from one of the following sync types:
- "2-way Sync"
- Syncs contacts in both directions, updating both your Mac and Google.
- "Gmail Contacts -> Mac"
- Updates your Mac contacts with the latest data from your Gmail contacts
- "Mac Contacts -> Gmail"
- Updates your Gmail contacts with the latest data from your Mac contacts
- "Manual Sync"
- Sync selected contacts only
- Once you initiate the sync, your Gmail contacts will be fetched and you will be given the opportunity to confirm how each contact is synced.
- Press "Confirm" to proceed with the sync.
